LINC Program

COURSE INFORMATION

Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is a federally funded program for permanent residents in Canada. The course is designed to assist newcomers settle in Canada and learn English in a variety of contexts, which include Canadian culture and law, commercial and governmental services, and education, among others.

Classes are two hour sessions each for four days per week, running from Monday to Thursday. The course covers the four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Equilibrium offers LINC 1-4.

Equilibrium School offers CLB 1-4 LINC classes

Monday to Thursday   9:00am - 11:00am
Monday to Thursday   11:30am - 1:30pm
Monday to Thursday   10:00am - 12:00pm
Monday to Thursday   12:30pm - 2:30pm
Monday to Thursday   6:30pm - 8:00pm

Semester Dates

April 2, 2024 – July 18, 2024
July 29, 2024 – November 14, 2024
November 18, 2024 – March 19, 2025

To be eligible for the LINC program you must:

  • be 18 years old or older
  • be a permanent resident or convention refugee
  • have a Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) placement test result from CLARC or a certificate from a LINC program
  • have a minimum of CLB 1 in listening/speaking or reading/writing
  • have a language program referral form from CLARC

For class registration please bring your:

  • referral letter from CLARC
  • CLB placement test results
  • permanent resident card or landing papers
  • driver's license or any other picture ID
