Equilibrium TOEFL Prep Classes

The TOEFL Preparation Classes are catered towards international and local clients who need a specific band score for post-secondary education.

Classes are designed to assist students in reaching their highest potential band score, which is accomplished by reviewing the formulaic material of the exam. Common question types and, as a result, appropriate responses to these questions are covered for each individual section: Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening.

One-on-one time with an instructor offers clients the ability to focus on problem areas, such as Reading, Writing (including grammar), Listening, or Speaking. Feedback is immediate and targeted at the client’s desired language skill.

Conversation

Levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced

Times: 9 AM – 12 PM on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays

Conversation Classes develop listening, speaking (including pronunciation) and vocabulary skills. These skills are important for success in employment, education and everyday life.

CELPIP 4 WEEK Preparation Course

The CELPIP preparation course is designed to prepare individuals to achieve a best possible score in the four language skills on the CELPIP General Test. By the end of the course, clients will demonstrate accumulated language awareness and personal strategies to confidently express their skills during the computerized CELPIP-General test.

Accent Reduction

Upon successful completion of the Accent Reduction Course, clients will have a toolbox of principles and practices to enhance their day-to-day communication. Moreover, clients will be able to:

express themselves clearly by discriminating a particular sound and forming phonetic sounds into words that are clear and distinct
intellectually train their muscle memory to articulate words while applying appropriate sentence intonation patterns
facilitate the theoretical music of the English language into fluent speech rhythm
integrate learned skills into spontaneous, clear language habits
augment self-confidence through repetitive practice

Basic Literacy Support

The Basic Literacy Program is designed for English as an Additional Language speakers lacking basic literacy skills who are seeking work in Canada. It's a program that is recommended for students with pre CLB levels and/or CLB 1 to 2 in all categories. The program addresses all four aspects of the English language. It targets students with a significant discrepancy between listening and speaking benchmarks (2 and above) and reading and writing (pre-Benchmark).

English Language Testing

Equilibrium will provide these services:

book a test within 24 hours of your initial phone call;
provide a written summary of the results within a 24 hour period;
provide additional recommendations for the student outlining their learning strategies and options.

The scale of benchmarks is from pre-benchmark, the lowest to 12, the highest.
