Biology These courses provide the opportunity to study living systems from the molecular level to the biosphere and the influence of biology on society. Both courses involve experimentation and problem solving. Biology 20 - 5 Credits Biology 20 is the first program in the Biology 20-30 series. The Biology 20-30 course stresses the key science themes energy, matter, change, systems, diversity, and equilibrium. These themes provide a means of showing the connections between the units of study in both courses of the program, as well as allowing students to see the nature of the connections to other courses in science. Biology 20 deals with the biosphere, cellular matter and energy flows, matter and energy exchange in the ecosystems, and matter and energy exchange in the human organism. Biology 30 - 5 Credits
Biology 30 is the second course in the Biology 20-30 series. The Biology 20-30 program stresses the key science themes energy, matter, change, systems, diversity, and equilibrium. Within these themes, students can develop an appreciation for biology's place in their world, as well as its connections to other science disciplines. The program has the goal of educating students about the nature of science, of technology, and of the interaction between biological sciences and technology. Students must be aware of the roles and limitations of biology, science in general, and of technology, in problem solving in a societal context. |
