Each homestay student is required to read this agreement in detail and sign it before a witness.

HOMESTAY Student Guidelines and Responsibilities Agreement

1. STUDENT AGREES to be courteous and respectful of Canadian law as well as the rules of the homestay family at all times.
2. STUDENT AGREES to comply with all host family rules, school rules, federal, provincial and local laws throughout the duration of his/her stay in Canada. It is understood that any infraction of these rules may result in immediate termination from the program.
3. STUDENT AGREES that he/she will not accept any employment during his/her stay.
4. STUDENT AGREES that he/she will not purchase or possess any alcohol, drugs or other controlled substances during his/her stay in the homestay as well as on school premises.
5. STUDENT AGREES to participate in all household chores (dishes, washing, gardening, cleaning, etc.) during his/her stay with the homestay family. Student shall treat the family with courtesy and respect, gladly undertaking the duties assigned to student as a family member.
6. STUDENT AGREES to always inform the family in advance about all alternative meal, entertainment and travelling plans.
7. STUDENT AGREES to take good care of his/her room as well as other facilities used in the house like bathroom, kitchen, and recreational rooms, etc. Please note that you will be responsible for damaged or loss of borrowed items, therefore proper care and usage of them is recommended.
8. STUDENT AGREES not to travel without prior permission from the homestay family and the school. Student understands that the homestay family and the school will not be responsible for the student during that time.
9. STUDENT AGREES not to have friends or siblings and family members visit during his/her stay with the homestay family, without the consent of the family. Student understands that in these circumstances additional fees may apply.
10. STUDENT Understands that it is recommended that larger amounts of money and valuables be kept in the bank rather than in the house, since lost or stolen items will be his/her responsibility.
11. STUDENT Understands that any additional service will be agreed upon explicitly between the Student and the homestay family (i.e. the use of laundry facilities, TV/VCR, or BBQ etc.).
12. STUDENT Understands that all students will be responsible for taking the bus(es) to school by themselves. Any additional service (i.e. school pick-up by car) will have to be discussed in advance, since additional charges will apply.
13. STUDENT Understands that while traveling in the homestay family's vehicle he/she is traveling at his/her own risk since he/she is not covered by the homestay family's insurance, therefore in case of any accident he/she will not be protected by it. Also student is not covered by the homestay family's home insurance , therefore he/she will not be reimbursed in case of any natural disasters like flooding, fire, etc.
14. STUDENT Understands that a verbal or written two week notice (addressed to the homestay administrator) is required in order to change the homestay family or move out, otherwise additional charges will apply (for example a minimum payment of half of the monthly fee).
